“Paradox Live on Stage THE LIVE ~All ARTISTS~” was held at Stella Ball on Saturday, July 27th, with a total of 14 cast members, including Hiroki Sana, Ryota Takeuchi, Naotake Tsuchiya, and Naoki Takeshi, taking part. We will be sending you a report on this event, which was packed with content, including a surprise performance of “RISE UP,” the opening theme song for the TV anime “Paradox Live THE ANIMATION,” which aired last October, as well as songs sung for the first time on “Paradox Live on Stage.”
■Introduction to the stage production “Paradox Live on Stage THE LIVE ~All ARTISTS~”
The original work for this stage play is the hip-hop media mix project “Paradox Live (commonly known as Pararai).”
In the story, set in the near future, hip-hop teams at the top of their respective music genres try to become No. 1 with their own music.
The video depicts the characters taking on stage battles. The authentic hip-hop music, featuring unique characters, has been well received, with the total number of views of the music videos published on the official YouTube channel exceeding 100 million. The project celebrated its fourth anniversary last November, and a TV anime will be broadcast in 2023, continuing to excite the hearts of heads (the nickname for fans).
The stage adaptation, “Paradox Live on Stage (commonly known as Paraste)”, premiered in September 2021, with the second performance, “Paradox Live on Stage vol.2”, scheduled for March 2023. Both the drama part, in which each team confronts their own trauma and clashes with their own way of life and beliefs in music, and the live part, which features a spectacular stage with loud sounds and powerful projection mapping images reminiscent of a club floor, have attracted attention. From “Paradox Live on Stage”, “THE LIVE” is a stage that focuses on the live part. Please pay attention to the live performance of the talented cast members with high singing ability and the enthusiastic stage that is truly “live”.
■Report text
“Paradox Live on Stage THE LIVE” delivers a powerful live stage performance where each member faces their own trauma and puts their belief in music to the beat. In past performances, two teams each, BAE x The Cat’s Whiskers and cozmez x Akukan Yatsura, have engaged in heated battles.
Now, the culmination of this project, “Paradox Live on Stage THE LIVE ~All ARTISTS~”, was held at Stella Ball. A total of 14 artists, including BAE (cast: Hiroki Sana, Mitsuji Konan, Riona Tatemichi), The Cat’s Whiskers (cast: Ryota Takeuchi, Yuya Asato, Kaito Hori, Ryu Teruyama), cozmez (cast: Naotake Tsuchiya, Naoki Osaki), and Akukan-Nutora (cast: Naoki Takeshi, Masahiro Kawakami, Nariya Inagaki, Tatsuyuki Kobayashi, Masaru Kamigoe), gathered together and thrilled the audience with their spectacular stage performance.
The first day’s[Morning Session]started with “Rap Guerrilla -Paradox Live All ARTISTS-” by ALL CAST. As this was the first standing live performance of “Paradox Live on Stage”, it quickly created a sense of unity with the heads. The cast members smiled with satisfaction at the cheers and interjections from the floor. After the four teams performed their songs with great enthusiasm, Paradox Devil (CV: Miyake Kenta) declared the opening and the “Anime Song Corner” started. The bad guys smashed the floor into a frenzy with their gangsta rap. They continued with the same momentum and moved on to “RISE UP” by ALL CAST. The heads cheered loudly at the sight of the 14 members delivering lyrics that connect with their respective backgrounds with high vibes. The cast members looked on with amusement as the heads responded to every word, leaving an impression.
“Hey, heads! Are you ready?” Suzakuno Allen (Sana Hiroki) called out, and each team once again performed a solo song. BAE thrust out their strongest Flag with “W△vin’ FL△g” as if to say, “We are the strongest.” The Cat’s Whiskers showed off their bond that has only grown stronger with their individual growth in “Ride Out.” Cozmez’s voice overflows with a hungry spirit in the bold lyrics of “Takin’ Over.” Akukan Yatsuto turns the floor into a festival with the summer-perfect song “TURN IT UP!!!!!! -Akukan SOUL FEVER-.” As proof that each team is taking on a new phase, they weave their own feelings into music.
Still excited, the MC was Akukan Nutara, the team in charge of the
Not to be outdone, The Cat’s Whiskers raise the vibe. The penlights on the floor swing wildly as they shoot at the floor with “One Shot One Kill”. Cozmez holds the microphone to survive and sings “Back Off”. The Downer Twins, looking at each other and singing dope lyrics, drag the heads to the depths of hell. The heads are thrilled by the enthusiastic performance of “REBELLION -Akukan Natsura is still Burning-“, which signals “rebellion” in a tense atmosphere, and enjoy hip-hop freely with the three members of BAE in “F△Bulous”. Seeing this, Suzakuno Allen (Sana Hiroki) is so happy and excited that he interrupts Tsubame Natsujun (Kominami Kouji) and starts talking passionately about hip-hop, drawing the floor into a whirlwind of laughter. Witnessing the “miracle” that comes from hip-hop, the group’s unity is strengthened by the sight of each member talking about their “team bond.” “I think it’s a miracle that I can be with all of you HEADS. We will continue to love our music so that this miracle will continue forever,” Suzakuno Allen (Sana Hiroki) said in a heartfelt message, before all 14 members sang the original song for the stage, “Here We Go,” and left the stage.
Amidst the thunderous applause, the audience naturally started singing along for the encore. When the stage was lit up, Hokusai Seiki (Inagaki Nariya), Reo Maruyama (Kamigoe Masaru), Ryu Natsume (Hori Kaito), and Shiki Yamido (Kiyama Ryū) appeared and performed the special song “CHILLIN'”, which was created by the original Shuffle Team Project. They hugged each other and put their heads on each other’s laps, and the interaction that unfolded in a chill atmosphere was soothing.
Then, saying “A glimpse,” Suiseki Iori (Takeshi Naoki) appeared playfully. While he was livening up the floor by himself, Kanbayashi Yohei (Asato Yuya) also appeared from the wings of the stage and enjoyed communicating with the heads. When the two performed “Double Trouble,” the crowd erupted in the biggest cheers of the day. The floor went wild with excitement at the performance, which gave a glimpse of the bond between the two former buddies, even though they are from different teams. The excitement reached a climax with the fade-out, as they put their fists together while singing the lyrics “Now our paths are different, but our souls are one,” and the performance ended with all 14 members performing “Fight For The Pride.”
