The debut song “Don’t Tell Nobody” by boy band ONE OR EIGHT, who just made their global debut on Friday, August 16th, has topped Billboard JAPAN’s “Heatseekers Songs” (released on August 28th).

As soon as ONE OR EIGHT released their debut song, they were selected for Spotify’s most popular official playlist “New Music Friday” (updated 8/16) in 16 countries and regions including the US version*1. This is the first time for a Japanese boy group to have their debut song included in multiple playlists in 16 countries and regions including the US. They also appeared on the playlist cover of Amazon Music’s official global playlist “MixTape Asia”. This playlist selects Asian artists who are active across borders, and this is the first time for an Asian artist to be selected for the playlist cover at the time of their debut. In addition, they also appeared on Amazon Music’s giant digital signage advertisement in New York’s Times Square that same week. This is also the first time for a Japanese artist to be selected for the signage at the time of their debut.

The song has also been selected as a playlist cover on ByteDance’s music streaming service “TikTok Music,” which has just launched in Indonesia and other countries, France’s global music streaming service “Deezer,” and “Anghami,” the most popular music streaming service in the Middle East.
She is the first Asian artist to be picked as a playlist cover artist on TikTok Music upon her debut, and the first Japanese artist to achieve this feat on Deezer and Anghami. Soon after her debut, she has achieved various feats and is already making her presence known globally.

Their debut song, “Don’t Tell Nobody,” was written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic and David Stewart, who worked on BTS’s “Dynamite.” David Stewart also praised the group, saying, “It was fun to write songs with them! They’re a group full of talented members with great vocals.”

The music video for “Don’t Tell Nobody,” released on the same day as their debut, has already exceeded 13 million views. Comments from both within Japan and overseas include, “I think these eight will be game changers that will change the scene,” and “This is the beginning of a legend.” Anticipation is building to see how ONE OR EIGHT’s gamble will unfold in the future.
