Showa pop group “SHOW-WA” produced by Yasushi Akimoto has reached number one on the Oricon daily single rankings on September 3rd with their long-awaited major debut single “Kimi no Oujisama”!

Showa pop group “SHOW-WA” (pronounced: Showa), produced by Yasushi Akimoto, released their major debut single “Kimi no Oujisama” on September 4th, which topped the Oricon daily single rankings on September 3rd, and shared their joy with their fans.

In 2023, we will hold the “Don’t give up on your dreams! Audition” with the theme of “Reviving Showa-era pop music in the Reiwa era and invigorating Japan.”
“SHOW-WA” is an adult group selected from over 3,000 people who sing mainly Showa-era mood songs.

The title song, “Kimi no Oujisama,” was first performed at the end of Fuji TV’s “Poka Poka” on January 8, 2024, and has been sung almost every day since then.
Although at first they sang in front of only a few dozen people, the numbers gradually increased, and at the “Can We Gather 1,000 Fans at a SHOW-WA Event?” event held at Fuji TV’s Wangan Studio on March 30, 2024, a total of 2,156 fans packed the venue.

Afterwards, they competed seriously for a major debut in a segment on the show “Poka Poka” against their sister group “MATSURI” (pronounced: Matsuri), which was also formed through the same audition, and after a week of fan voting, they won their major debut.

On the release day, September 4th, many fans flocked to the “Your Prince Release Celebration Event” held at Aeon Lake Town Mori from the morning, eagerly awaiting their arrival.

They appeared live on four Fuji TV information programs, “Mezamashi,” “Mezamashi 8,” “Non-Stop,” and “Poka Poka,” calling it a “Release Celebration Fuji TV Airwave Takeover.” SHOW-WA also appeared at the release celebration event at Aeon Lake Town Mori, where they said, “Thanks to all of you, we were able to make our major debut! Thank you so much!” and were greeted with cheers of “Congratulations on your major debut” from the more than 1,000 fans in attendance.

During the MC session at the end of the show, each member shared their thoughts one by one, and some were in tears as they spoke about how the road to get to this point had not been smooth and how they had only made it to their major debut after many hardships.

Finally, when the SHOW-WA members announced that the song had reached number one on the Oricon daily single rankings, fans shed tears of joy.

The members all concluded by saying, “We’ve only just reached the starting point. Let’s chase our dreams together,” and the venue was filled with a warm atmosphere.

The “Your Prince” release commemorative events are still ongoing.
I want you to experience that heat.
