[LUNA SEA]Appointed as Ambassador for “Vacuum Packed Live”

LUNA SEA has announced that they will be serving as ambassadors for an initiative developed by Yamaha Corporation based on the concept of “vacuum-packed live performances.”

Using technologies such as “Real Sound Viewing,” which automatically reproduces the performance of actual instruments in a realistic manner, and “Distance Viewing,” a highly realistic live viewing system, the group will collaborate with Yamaha with the aim of “vacuum-packing” live performances and leaving them as intangible musical cultural assets. They will cooperate in conducting trials of new technologies and introduce new technologies at live shows to record live data, creating opportunities to preserve and recreate the experience of LUNA SEA’s live shows.

The Real Sound Viewing trial session for media personnel was held at Yamaha Ginza Studio on September 5th, and focused on the audio and video footage from the Meguro Rokumeikan concert held on May 29th of last year.

Members SUGIZO and J who attended the press conference
“In the time of Beethoven and Bach, the only way to preserve a musician’s soul was through sheet music. About 100 years ago, however, it became possible to preserve it through recordings, and in the last century, it has become possible to preserve it through recordings. This project, which allows us to preserve the energy and breathing of music, will have the same impact as the development of recording technology and the phonograph.” (SUGIZO)
“The only thing we can’t have as performers is seeing ourselves perform live. But we got to see it now. It felt like we were shown the possibilities for the future of live performances and music, and the dreams of musicians.” (J)
He added,

We will continue to cooperate with Yamaha in conducting trials of new technologies, and will introduce new technologies at live performances and record live data. We are looking forward to the opportunity to present them to the public.
