On the 10th, model and actor Marie Iitoyo appeared on stage at the stage greeting before the opening performance of the play “Hamlet Q1” held at the PARCO Theater in Shibuya.

Hamlet is considered one of Shakespeare’s four great tragedies. There are three original versions of this work: Q1 version, Q2 version, and F1 version.In modern times, the Q1 version is the original version of the Q2 version, the Q2 version is the draft, the F1 version is the production script kept by the theater company at the time, and the Q2 version is the original version. It is said that it was created as a reference.

What will be performed this time is the Q1 version, which is about half the length of the F1 version, which is currently the most performed, and is a play with a fast-paced feel that unfolds as if the story is condensed and unfolds.

Directed by Shintaro Mori, who received high acclaim for his 2021 production of “Julius Caesar” (starring Yo Yoshida/PARCO Theater), which depicts the historical scale of ancient Rome as a human drama that connects with modern times. The translator will be Kazuko Matsuoka, who has translated all 37 Shakespeare plays. The performance will be performed with a new translation by Matsuoka, who knows everything about Shakespeare’s plays.

In this work, Iitoyo plays Ophelia, the girlfriend of Hamlet, played by Yo Yoshida.
Iitoyo made her debut as an actress in 2012. Since then, she has appeared in many dramas, movies, commercials, and variety shows. She is active as a model as well as an exclusive model for “Oggi” and a regular model for “MORE”. His main appearances in recent years include[movie]“Rohan Kishibe Goes to the Louvre” (23),[drama]“What day of the week were you born” (23, ABC TV/TV Asahi), and “Chimu Dondon” (22). He has been active in a wide range of fields, including NHK (NHK) and the series “Rohan Kishibe Doesn’t Move” (20, 21, 24, NHK).

Iitoyo, who appeared on stage, said of the play, “I have little experience on stage, so everything is new to me, and Shakespeare itself has already written the emotions and thoughts of the characters, so I was very impressed by that.” “Every moment I spend with my co-stars in the company is so precious, and I’m so excited to see how I’ll feel when I reach the final stage,” he answered with a firm look on his face.

When asked about her favorite scene in the play, she mentioned the scene with Hamlet, played by Yo Yoshida, and said, “After seeing Hamlet’s madness, Ophelia is filled with sadness and changes.” I want to play the role while fully understanding Hitsuji-san’s feelings,” he said with deep emotion.

Regarding an episode during the rehearsals that left an impression on me, he said, “While everyone was building the structure of confirming possibilities every day, I realized that no matter how much I dig and dig, new things emerge every day. It was really fun to watch the rehearsals even in the scenes where they weren’t appearing!”, he said, revealing how fulfilling the daily rehearsals were.
