This time, Rui Sasaki, an artist with a deep connection to MEET YOUR ART, will appear.

“Using plants to preserve the memory of land and nature”

Sasaki, who creates works by enclosing plants collected both domestically and overseas in glass, takes a deep dive into how he became interested in glass itself and the background behind his current work.

It has also been decided that they will participate in MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL 2024, which will be held this month.

The works will be exhibited and sold at the art fair “MEET YOUR ARTISTS” within the venue.

︎Rui Sasaki

Born in Kochi Prefecture in 1984. While drawing inspiration from the nature and living environment around us, he primarily uses glass, a material that can be preserved and recorded, to explore the “subtle nostalgia” he perceives in the places he exists. .

He has been invited to stay and create works mainly in Scandinavia and the United States, and has exhibited at museums both in Japan and abroad. Major awards include the 33rd Rakow Commission (2019, Corning Museum of Glass/USA) and the Toyama Glass Grand Prize Exhibition 2021 Grand Prize (Toyama City Glass Museum). Many works are in the collections of the Latvian National Museum (Latvia), the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, etc. Major solo exhibitions in recent years include “Subtle Intimacy: Here and There” (2023, Portland Japanese Garden/USA) and “Blue in the Snow” (2024, Art Court Gallery). The author has been featured in features such as the New York Times and Nihon Keizai Shimbun. Currently produced in Ishikawa Prefecture.
