Yuriko Asano travels to various places to learn about food culture and how plants are used. She traces her interactions with the people she meets and her own experiences, and creates paintings that record what has been passed down in those places. I am doing it. These works go beyond simple botanical paintings, focusing on the wisdom and knowledge that has been passed down in the land for a long time, and focusing on the coexistence between humans and nature, which is being lost in modern society, perspectives on living things other than humans, and the cycle of life. It also incorporates an awareness of extremely modern issues, such as women’s labor. Through his colorful and vibrant paintings, Asano celebrates this rich world.
