AWA, a subscription-based music streaming service run by AWA Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Togashi Akimi), will be available to users in real-time in mid-March 2025. We will open up to Taiwanese users with an online space called “Lounge” where you can chat while enjoying the same music in the same space. In addition, subtitle and translation functions have been added in the browser version.
This time, the opening to Taiwanese users will be held in conjunction with the online event “International Exchange Song Battle,” which will be held on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, featuring over 20 singers from Japan and Taiwan. We plan to use the lounge in Taiwan and add subtitle and translation functions.
Until now, the lounge function was provided for Japanese users, but users living in Taiwan can now use it, allowing Taiwanese users to participate in Japanese users’ streaming and also streaming by Taiwanese users. Japanese users will be able to participate. (Some feature restrictions are included*1)
In addition, subtitle and translation functions have been added to ensure smooth communication across language barriers, and audio spoken via audio streaming is transcribed as subtitles in real time. Furthermore, the translation function also translates subtitles and also translates chats at the same time. The source language is Japanese/traditional Chinese, and the destination language is Japanese/English/traditional Chinese. (Some restrictions are available*2)
*If you are using from Taiwan, please use the browser version. If you are participating in the lounge from Taiwan, you will not be able to watch music. Additionally, if Taiwanese users are monetising their distribution, they will need to sign a separate contract with AWA.
