Chilldspot Drops New Track “AiAi” MV, a Rally of Gen Z Creators!

Chiwawa Sasaki, active Keio student, serves as creator and director, joined by a collective of Gen Z creators

Chilldspot has just unleashed their latest track, “AiAi” (愛哀), with its music video hitting the scenes on January 19th.

For the first time, the project is led by Chiwawa Sasaki, a Keio student deeply immersed in the sociology of Kabukicho. Drawing from her own experiences as a host club fanatic, she vividly portrays the lives of young people engulfed in the world of Kabukicho host clubs, crafting it into a striking visual masterpiece.

The cast and crew are predominantly Gen Z creators. Starring the sensational TikTok influencer Marina, with over 1.4 million followers, and the real-deal Kabukicho host earning over 200 million yen, Kanae Minato. Filming locations include the iconic host club “Ai Honten” in Kabukicho and actual waiting rooms of a delivery health service. The acting was meticulously coached by real-life host club devotees and authentic workers from the adult entertainment industry, ensuring an unparalleled level of realism.

The track ‘AiAi’ reflects the plight of young people who, unable to receive comforting and positive love, fall into the trap of unequal love while searching for ‘today’. In the music video, Marina portrays a variety of personas including a host club fanatic, a delivery health worker, a college student, and a mentally unstable individual fond of overdosing. She captures the essence of these characters through different make-up, hairstyles, outfits, and social media accounts. The story follows her intense emotional journey through Kabukicho, seeking something beyond pure love in the ‘now’.

In a unique move, Chiwawa Sasaki has penned the ‘original novel’ for the music video, available on note. This narrative delves deeper into the protagonist’s mindset, exploring emotions not fully captured on screen. The collaboration of Gen Z creators has given birth to a music video that mirrors contemporary perspectives on love. While experiencing this modern love story through the music video, readers are also invited to immerse themselves in the novel, uncovering the hidden depths of the storyline.

Comments from Creator and Director Chiwawa Sasaki

After six years of frequenting host clubs, this music video encapsulates all the emotions I’ve experienced in Kabukicho. I want everyone to see the painstakingly crafted realism down to the smallest detail. The protagonist works night jobs and leads what seems a momentary lifestyle, not for a lover or anyone specific, but rather for herself, who is in love with a host whose real name she doesn’t even know. In a city where spending money is the rule of the game, she sometimes feels lost, suffers, and wants to deny her current self. Yet, all these worries vanish with just one message from the man she adores. This relationship, built over repeated cycles, can be glimpsed through the growing number of blue receipts scattered around her room. The protagonist’s smile at the end, enjoying her youth in a Kabukicho-style, is dazzling, showing her savoring the present more than anyone else – it’s my favorite scene. To everyone who, like her, indulges in hobbies or spending habits that others might frown upon, let’s enjoy life to the fullest and defiantly raise a middle finger from the depths of our own swamps.

Comments from Lead Actress Marina

I’m truly thrilled to have received this offer. Furthermore, I’m delighted that chilldspot’s music beautifully captures emotions that everyone has felt at some point – the pursuit of happiness even amidst hardship. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved with such wonderful music and to express a new side of myself through acting.

She began actively using TikTok in October 2020. A fashion video she posted on October 20, 2020, gained 30,000 followers in just five days, kickstarting her popularity. Since then, she has not missed a single day of posting, continuing her streak through to 2024.

Comments from Host Role Actor Kanae Minato

Being an actual host helped me act naturally. Scenes like the champagne tower and smoking shisha together after work are all part of it. Although the music video is from the protagonist’s perspective, I think it’s a piece that can be enjoyed from various angles, including that of the host. The chorus, ‘I want the now, tomorrow can wait,’ mixes youth and poignancy in a crescendo that’s unexpected from the beginning of the tune. I’d be delighted if viewers enjoy the lyrics along with the final scene of the MV.

Profile of Kanae Minato

A renowned host admired by many famous personalities for his exceptional hosting skills. His refined visuals, reminiscent of a Korean idol, have garnered high popularity on social media. Approximately half of his annual earnings, amounting to about 200 million yen, come from Instagram-based appointments. He was previously a hairstylist.

Comments from chilldspot’s Hiyune

AiAi’ is themed around a generation’s view of love that may be incomprehensible and even disturbing to adults. In this era, where the internet is ubiquitous and diversity has increased, blending everything into shades of grey, the concept of love varies for everyone. However, the desire for a place to belong, for love, seems unchanging. I believe this song, driven by that singular emotion, has become a piece that makes a profound impact. In the Music Video, the world we envisioned was depicted vividly and realistically, creating an incredibly immersive work.
