In 1994, MariMari contributed the song “Since Yesterday” under the name “MariMari rhythmkiller machinegun” with Shinji Sato and Kinichi Mogi (drums, vocals) to the CD supplement of the magazine “Beikoku Ongaku,” which became a hot topic on the college charts. After performing live, she made her solo debut in 1996 with the single “Everyday, Under the Blue Blue Sky.”
The works that will be streamed this time are as follows:
“Everyday, Under The Blue Blue Sky” (DISA-0682)
MariMari’s debut single. All members of Fishmans, including Shinji Sato, Yuzuru Kashiwabara (B, Programming), and Kinichi Mogi, as well as Shinya Kogure (Gt), HONZI (Vl), and Yuichi Oki (Kb) from Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, participate. Mixed by ZAK, the album contains three groovy tracks with full support from members of Fishmans.
“Indian Summer” (DISA-0683)
Akira Onda, Joji Sawada, Apache Tanaka and others participated in this diverse musical piece, which includes minimal, electro and dancehall reggae. Produced by Yuzuru Kashiwabara. This is MariMari’s second single, which brings out the diversity of her vocals.
“Ears, Eyes and Echoes” (DISA-0684)
MariMari’s first album. All tracks except for M-2 and M-8, which were released as singles, were produced by MariMari and Shinji Sato. A masterpiece of dream pop with a personal and spacey sound space that is reminiscent of Fishmans’ masterpiece “Uchu Nippon Setagaya.” A valuable work for examining the artistic side of Shinji Sato.
“J” (DISA-0685)
This single follows “Ears, Eyes and Echo” and is the final work for FOR LIFE MUSIC. The sound production has been completely renewed, and famous session musicians such as Keiji Urata, Rei Shibakusa, Yosuke Sugimoto, Shigetoya Hamaguchi, Chiharu Mikuzuki, Hideo Yamaki, and Yasuo Sano have participated. This ambitious work shines with MariMari’s unique vocalization and rich imagination within the sophisticated sound.
These works are must-listen content for all music fans, not just Fishmans fans, as they are valuable materials that symbolize the Japanese music scene in the 1990s. Please take this opportunity to enjoy them.
