Higuchi Ai to Pre-release New Song from 5th Album “Miseisenjou,” Live Video Also Released

Higuchi Ai is set to pre-release her new song “Taikouhai” on January 10th, ahead of her 5th album “Miseisenjou” (Uncompleted Lines), which will be available on January 24th.

The song is the opening track of the album, a powerful rock number that urges us to look beyond the endpoints we’ve resigned ourselves to. It’s about moving past the various emotions and things we’ve given up, encouraging us to venture beyond the endpoints we’ve been avoiding.

Incorporating the message in the lyrics “Nasenai koto ni narete shimau na yo” (Don’t get used to things you can’t achieve), this song closely aligns with the album’s title, “Miseisenjou,” and is especially resonant for new adults and students during this period. The call-and-response arrangement, crafted by ‘Miyata ‘Lefty’ Ryo,’ promises a grand sing-along during the upcoming band one-man tour starting in February. A short video clip featuring one chorus of the song is also available on Higuchi Ai’s official YouTube channel.

Additionally, the live video of “Lunchtime Lover,” taken from the limited edition Blu-ray of the album, has been released on her official YouTube channel. This footage was recorded at the final performance of the band one-man tour <HIGUCHIAI band one-man live 2023 [Umu Koe]> held in June 2023 at the Shibuya Ward Cultural Center Owada Sakura Hall in Tokyo, and is being shown for the first time.

The first press limited edition Blu-ray of “Miseisenjou” includes 24 high-quality live videos, including “Lunchtime Lover.” Additionally, it features a collection of 30 tracks in total, including the first package release of the “Akuma no Ko” music video and “Akuma no Ko / THE FIRST TAKE,” “Kanashii Uta ga Aru Riyuu / THE FIRST TAKE,” and more. *It would be nice if it was easier to purchase overseas (laughs).

Following the album release, an in-store live tour, the first in about four and a half years since the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held. Post-release, both the Higuchi Ai band one-man live 2024 [Miseisenjou] and the solo tour <HIGUCHIAI solo tour 2024 [Miseisenjou]> are scheduled. Higuchi Ai is an artist to watch in the future.

Artist Profile: Higuchi Ai

Born in the first year of Heisei (1989), I am a singer-songwriter. Born in Kagawa and raised in Nagano, I moved to Tokyo to attend university and currently reside there. I started learning classical piano at the age of two and later experienced violin, choir, vocal training, drums, and guitar, exposing myself to various musical genres. At the age of 18, I began my career focusing on keyboard and vocal performance. I made my major debut in 2016 with my 1st album “”Hyakurokujuudo.””

My cultivated performance skills and intrinsic musicality have been highly acclaimed both inside and outside the industry, leading to appearances at major festivals such as “”FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL”” and “”RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL.”” In 2022, I gained attention for writing “”Akuma no Ko”” as the ending theme for the TV anime “”Attack on Titan”” The Final Season Part 2. My piano, which sings as much as I do, and my straight, soaring alto voice hold an overwhelming persuasive power. The passion wrung from my small frame, unified with the piano, alternately portrays delicate beauty, heart-wrenching anxiety, and the light within loss. My lyrics, written from a unique perspective, dramatically elevate the mundane scenes of everyday life and the subtleties of the human heart. In recent years, I have also been active as a songwriter, providing music to artists like Shingo Katori, Non, and Yoshino Aoyama, and penning lyrics for numerous songs, including the theme song of the anime “”Bocchi the Rock!”” under the name “”Ai Higuchi.””
