35th anniversary of their shocking debut, unearthed recordings of THE TIMERS to be released on LP & CD

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of THE TIMERS’ debut, the latest remastered and unearthed recording collection “THE TIMERS 35th Anniversary Celebration Commemorative Item” will be released on Wednesday, November 6th.

The Timers, who released their first album “The Timers” in 1989, are a four-piece band led by Zerry, who is said to resemble Kiyoshiro Imawano. From 1988 to 1989, they made guerrilla appearances at live events and school festivals. Although they were a four-piece band using acoustic instruments, they dressed in construction worker-style outfits, tabi socks, helmets and face masks, and made waves with their outspoken songs on drugs, anti-nuclear, political satire and other topics. Their behavior on live TV and at concerts was also outrageous, and many incidents and legends have been passed down.

In addition to the latest remastered sound source of the first album “THE TIMERS”, this work includes a total of nine songs, including previously sealed phantom songs and alternate versions. Of particular note is “Did you hear LOVE ME TENDER?”, a piece that echoes “Love Me Tender” from RC Succession’s cover album “COVERS” (1988). Only a snippet of the song was included as a special short version on RC Succession’s live album “Cobra no Nayami” from the same year, and the song was never officially released, but this time a recording of it as THE TIMERS was unearthed. It will be included in this album.

Other tracks on the album include “BAKANCE,” a reggae cover of the HILLBILLY BOPS classic “Vacation,” and a different mix of “Die Dream Believer,” in which ZERRY whispers in your ear.

This work will be released in two formats, a 3-LP set and a 3-CD set. Remastering and vinyl cutting were handled by Stuart Hawkes of Metropolis Studios in London, who has also worked on works by Amy Winehouse and Ed Sheeran. The recording of “THE TIMERS” was also done at the same studio in 1989, making this a project that spans about 35 years. In addition, it is packed with a reprint of the press kit from that time and rare photos, making it a true 35th anniversary celebration item.

Pre-orders have started today at major record shops, online stores, UNIVERSAL MUSIC STORE, and other locations.
