REJAY released their new single “Meant to Be” today, August 2nd (Friday). The music video was also released.
18-year-old singer REJAY is the first total producer to be produced by JQ of Nulbarich, who announced that they will be taking a break from activities at the end of 2024. His debut single “Too Late”, released in February this year, was picked up by several official playlists on Spotify. In addition, he appeared in his first live show “J-WAVE presents INSPIRE TOKYO 2024 -Best Music & Market-” in July, attracting attention.
This song, with its memorable guitar refrain, is about the breakup of a man and a woman. The music video was directed by Raita Kuramoto, who has worked on music videos for My Hair is Bad and Sexy Zone, as well as movies and advertising videos. He also directed the short film “Little by little” that was released last week, so the content is linked to it.
In the short film, the singer-songwriter Emma, played by REJAY, breaks up with her boyfriend of two years, photographer Chris, and the two have a conversation on the day he leaves for a long-term business trip overseas. The music video, set a few months after the breakup, shows Emma living alone in a new place.
