Kohei Shimizu’s first Vocaloid song “Ruina” released today & lyric video released

Kohei Shimizu released his new single “Ruina” today, Wednesday, August 7th. The lyric video was also released.

Kohei Shimizu, a singer-songwriter, producer and guitarist, announced last year that he had changed his name from sooogood! In June, he released his first album under his new name, “Hypervoid,” which caused quite a stir.

This work, released just two months after the album, is Kohei Shimizu’s first vocaloid song. The title “Ruina” is the name of a DTM software that distorts Kohei Shimizu’s favorite sounds into chaos, and also means “to ruin” in Spanish. As the title suggests, it is an alternative hyper pop song with a solid guitar with irregular tuning and a tight mid-tempo house beat. The lyrics are painfully piercing to the heart, but at the same time they give a strong sense of hope.

The artwork was done by illustrator Shigematsu/NANTOKA. The artwork is also used in the lyric video.

Kohei Shimizu is also scheduled to appear at the event “Mother” to be held at BATICA in Ebisu, Tokyo on Sunday, August 25th. This will be his first live performance since December 2022.

[Comment from Kohei Shimizu]

Following the release of the album, we will be releasing our first Vocaloid single on August 7th!
The song was sung by Kafu-chan!
Alternative hyper pop that mixes narrow dynamic range, unconventional tuned solid guitar with tight mid-tempo house beats!
There may be unbearable moments when you feel like you don’t care about anything, even wanting to shake off all your weaknesses, but in order to move forward, you have to let go of something, and it could be a shining turning point. This is a song filled with encouragement!
I hope you all enjoy Kohei Shimizu’s first Vocaloid song!
