It has been announced that Adee A. will release her first album, “+8 Age,” on Friday, August 23rd.
Adee A. is a solo project by Taro Abe, who was the vocalist and frontman of the Fukuoka-based rock band Attractions, which sadly went on hiatus in 2021. The album contains 11 songs that he wrote and arranged himself. After the band went on hiatus, he has been developing his own style that mixes various music cultures, based on his original musical experience of 90s British music – Madchester, Britpop, trip hop, new wave, breakbeats, UK garage, dub, etc. – and current indie music.
Adee A. was born in Indonesia and grew up in an environment where the language spoken at home was English. After naturalizing in Japan at the age of 11, she was influenced by various music cultures such as bands and DJs. In her album “+8 Age,” she leaves Fukuoka, where she has lived for over 20 years, and expresses the light and shadow she has felt while living in Tokyo, through both musicality and lyrics. Regarding the title, Adee A. commented as follows: “I want listeners to listen to this work, which I created by honestly facing my own emotions, with the free mind of an 8-year-old. I hope that through this album, listeners will be able to see the world in technicolor, without any filters, inside or out.”
In September, they will hold a live tour visiting six locations nationwide. The Tokyo performance will feature special guest TOSH, an Okinawan singer-songwriter with whom they have a long-standing friendship. They have also been confirmed to appear at the outdoor festival “Ringo Music Festival” to be held in Matsumoto, Nagano.
