It has been announced that Omoide Yarou A-Team will release a charity single, “Sore wa Tsukasa Atte 2024,” to support Palestine on Sunday, August 11th.
This work is a new recording of the song “Sore wa tsuite atte” (It Was Once Upon a Time), released in 2019, which deals with the history of the massacre of Koreans during the Great Kanto Earthquake and the human rights violations against refugees and immigrants by the Immigration Bureau. Based on the recent live arrangement, it has been rearranged into an Afro-funk disco tune, and the lyrics have been added in response to the worsening Palestinian massacres.
In addition to strongly protesting the country’s immigration issues, which show no signs of improvement, the group will donate all of its proceeds to various support organizations, including the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, with the aim of providing humanitarian aid to Palestine.
In addition, this work isBandcampIt will be released digitally on Spotify and on CD. The CD will go on sale at Seoul Picnic 2024, which will be held tomorrow, August 11th (Sun) at WWW X in Shibuya, Tokyo.
In addition, it has been announced that “Seoul Picnic 2024” will be held at OPPA-LA in Enoshima, Kanagawa on Saturday, August 24th. The DJs will be Latin Quarter, an indispensable DJ in the summer at OPPA-LA, and percussionist and DJ Sammo Hung Kam-Bo of Omoide Yaro.
[Comment from Hajime Takahashi (Omoide Yaro A Team)]
For years I’ve been singing, “It happened once and it’s still happening,” but not only is it still happening, it’s currently getting worse.
Thinking of the historical facts of the Great Kanto Earthquake, I wrote in the first line that “the memory of genocide is far away,” but even at this very moment people are being massacred in Palestine.
In an age of deepening division, we may not be able to fully comprehend the mistakes of others, but when faced with this terrible situation, we can easily see what we are not doing and what we are turning a blind eye to.
It took a long time to come up with the idea, and it’s not the most efficient way, but I wanted to support people who are in difficult situations, so I made a new single with the help of my band members and staff. I think we recorded a rough but good take.
Please pick up a copy and give it a listen. Thank you.
