Taikuu Jikan releases their 5th album “Tori” New members include Tsunoda Mami and guest Minekawa Takako

TaikuhJikang will release their new album “Tori” on Friday, August 16th.

Taikuu Jikan is a band led by shadow artist/musician Kawamura Koheisai. Based on the concept of “folk songs from an imaginary island,” the band has attracted attention from both within Japan and overseas for its unique performances that combine the exotic sounds of gamelan and steelpan with modern shadow puppetry. Members include HAMA (gamelan, percussion), GO ARAI (violin), Sato Junko (voice), AYA (bass), Tonchi (steelpan), Suzuki Yudai (trunk), Adachi Reizaburo (sax, percussion), and Kakudo Mami (gamelan, percussion, vocals).

This is the fifth album in three years, and contains 12 songs with the concept of “birds” that fly freely from genres, categories, countries and lands. The sound engineer is Naoyuki Uchida, the new member Mami Kakudo, and the guest musician Takako Minekawa are the strongest members in the history of the group.
