The second lineup for “DEFOAMAT,” which will be held in the Daikanyama area of Tokyo on Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th, has been announced.
DEFOAMAT is an urban art and music festival with the concept of “Searching for a new form of society within Asian cultural solidarity – alternative Asian life”. A wide range of content is planned, including live music performances by more than 15 artists from Asian countries and art exhibitions, an outdoor market focusing on Asian culture, and talk sessions to explore alternative forms of society.
The venues are Daikanyama T-SITE, Daikanyama Forestgate, UNIT / SALOON, and Haretara Sora ni Mamemaite. Tickets for the music program will go on general sale on e+ from today, August 20th (Tuesday).
This time, the music will be a new mix of Japanese folk songs and Latin music such as cumbia, bringing them back to life in the modern era.Folk song crusadersWhile running HELICOPTER RECORDS, he has been hosting Asian music parties since 2015 to introduce Asian music.DJ YESYESA writer and music selector who focuses on local and regional topics, he has a deep knowledge of music from all over Asia.Hajime OishiHe is a Thai vintage record collector and DJ who has lived in Bangkok, Thailand for six and a half years since 2010, and interprets Thai food, music, fashion and culture from a local and independent perspective.MOOLABased on reggae, they are a next-generation band that is not bound by genre and is exploring new forms of expression with the stance of “playing the music we want to do at the time in our own style.”ASOUNDwill be appearing.
As part of the music program, there will also be a screening of the documentary film “Bring Minyo Back!”, which explores the origins of folk music and has been praised at film festivals around the world, along with live footage of the Minyo Crusaders on their world tour.
In addition to the already announced international art collective ruangrupa, Japan’s leading art collective SIDE CORE has also been confirmed to participate. While continuing to maintain their own unique stance, SIDE CORE has been gaining momentum, having recently begun their first large-scale solo exhibition in Tokyo at the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art, and attention is focused on what kind of works they will present in Daikanyama.

This event focuses on contemporary Asian culture, and aims to bring about new perspectives on the lives and values of visitors through the ongoing music and art being sent from Asia to the world.
