It has been announced that WONK and Toshinobu Kubota’s first collaborative song, “Life Like This,” will be released on Wednesday, September 4th.
Since last year, WONK has been collaborating with Kiefer (USA), 9m88 (Taiwan), and Jinmenusagi. This time, the guest vocalist will be Japanese R&B pioneer Toshinobu Kubota. WONK says that Kubota is an artist they respect as a unique presence who synchronized with the rise of neo-soul in Japan in the 1990s. WONK has been receiving encouragement from Kubota about their musicality for some time, and this collaboration has finally come to fruition.
The song, titled “Life Like This,” asks how we should live in a world where mistakes are repeated, while giving a sense of positivity with feet on the ground. The leader, Kou Arata, is good at creating a twisted beat, and Kubota’s groove overlaps with the work, allowing you to enjoy the exchange with Kento Nagatsuka.
In addition, a 7-inch analog record will be released with a collaboration track with Kubota Toshinobu, “Life Like This,” and a collaboration track with Jinmenusagi, “Here I Am.” It will be released on November 3rd (Sunday, a national holiday) to coincide with Record Day.EPISTROPH Official StoreReservations are now open.
