The collaboration with Takashi Murakami was realized in the MV teaser for “Right Now” released by NewJeans today.
This song is one of the songs included in the Japanese debut single “Supernatural”, which will be released on June 21st (Friday). The teaser begins with the characters from “New Jeans x Powerpuff Girls,” which she previously introduced in her 2nd EP “Get Up.” The five members go out in search of the elixir of love and discover a “rainbow flower,” which gives them supernatural powers. In the process, the two worlds collide due to an unknown error, and the characters of “New Jeans x Takashi Murakami” appear. This character, born from the combination of New Jeans’ adorable charm and Takashi Murakami’s iconic work “Rainbow Flower”, left a strong impact even though it was only briefly shown at the end of the teaser.
Takashi Murakami has long publicly stated in interviews that he is a fan of New Jeans. The collaboration between the two global icons is already attracting a lot of attention from various quarters.
The Japanese debut single “Supernatural” includes a total of four songs, including the title track “Supernatural” and “Right Now,” as well as the instrumentals for each song. As this is their first Japanese album, expectations are high as to how it will be different from their previous works.
Prior to their debut in Japan, NewJeans is currently collaborating with SHIBUYA109 on a large scale. In addition to the pop-up store opening last month, a large photo of New Jeans was also displayed on the outside wall of SHIBUYA109 on Tuesday, April 30th. In addition, a large-scale fan meeting will be held at Tokyo Dome for two days from June 26th (Wednesday) to June 27th (Thursday).
