The event “origami SAI” by origami PRODUCTIONS will be held in two countries: Taiwan and Thailand.
“origami SAI”, which was first held in November 2019 at Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO in Tokyo, is a label showcase featuring all artists from the label – Ovall, Kan Sano, Michael Kaneko, Nenashi aka Hiro-a-key, Shingo Suzuki, mabanua, and Shingo Sekiguchi. A total of over 4,000 audience members have attended so far, and various artists other than those from the label have also performed. In 2024, in addition to Osaka, which has already been announced, it will be held in Taiwan (Taipei) and Thailand (Bangkok).
The first overseas performances will be in Taiwan and Thailand, each lasting two days. In order to cover the huge expenses, crowdfunding will be carried out on “Ubugoe”. The lineup of rewards includes special tickets to local live performances, limited edition T-shirts, road movies, and recordings of origami artists singing and playing the guitar.

▼About the crowdfunding campaign and origami SAI’s first label showcase overseas/in Asia (Taiwan and Thailand).
It has been 18 years since origami PRODUCTIONS was founded.
We breathe the same air as we do, laugh and cry at the same things as our Japanese fans, who are closest to us, and we cherish them from the bottom of our hearts, and have put down roots and are active here in Japan.
My desire to promote Japanese music and let people in Japan listen to great music has not changed to this day.
However, at the same time, since we express ourselves using the universal language of music, we also want music fans around the world to recognize the greatness of music that Japanese people can create.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, many international artists have come to Japan again to give amazing performances.
It is also common to watch films from all over the world and eat a wide variety of cuisine, from Indian, Italian, Chinese, French to Korean.
I think it’s a truly valuable experience to cherish what we have created, while also being able to see beautiful works created by people all over the world that we could never imagine, listen to music, and eat delicious food.
In particular, music can now be instantly accessed from any country using a smartphone, allowing us to experience music created by people all over the world.
When music-based entertainment and youth culture are described as “Cool!” in other countries, it tends to also embrace other industries from that country, such as electrical appliances, cars, and fashion. In other words, music has now become an important factor in imagining a country.
That is why we want to step out into the world with confidence.
Although our music may be in a similar genre, it is created with a uniquely Japanese sensibility, and I believe it will be a new experience for people from other countries, making them think, “Japanese music is the best! origami is the best!”
At origami PRODUCTIONS, we have the strength to be able to expand into the world as a label while still retaining the individuality of each artist.
It is an unusual style to venture overseas in the form of a label showcase, and to be completely honest, it is very costly.
With more than 20 people traveling and accommodation, venue fees, advertising costs, etc., the first attempt was sure to result in a loss.
That being said, I think the impact of everyone at the label taking on this challenge together will be huge.
However, it is precisely because this is an unusual venture that I want to succeed!
That’s why we wanted to let our Japanese fans, who are closest to us, know about this challenge as soon as possible.
