Rapper ARuM releases his EP "TOKYO" today, expressing his love and hate for Tokyo, and the music video is now available

Rapper ARuM will release his new EP “TOKYO” on Wednesday, August 28th. The music video for “I Need” has also been released.

ARuM won “SLECTION CYPHER” on ABEMA’s “Rap Star Birth 2023” and attracted attention. The song “KATEI”, which vividly describes his family environment, became a hot topic due to its shocking content and music video.

This is the first EP release in about 10 months since the previous work “CBKSW”, and it is a work that lyrically expresses the love and hate for Tokyo that a rapper with roots in Kashiwa, Chiba, a city near Tokyo, has. In the pre-released “I Need”, he showed a glimpse of a new frontier with a smooth delivery while maintaining the stoic rapper’s mentality as a rapper, but in the EP’s lead song “F**k Ma Pride”, a powerful and slow track with a melancholic voice material, he expresses his intention to fight in the streets of Tokyo as a rapper, carrying the expectations of his hood friends and putting his own pride second, on the back of his shoulders.

“SACHI” was produced by DJ MUNARI, who lives in Harlem, New York, and who ARuM became friends with when he went to New York alone. As ARuM himself said, “Boom Bap is the best,” it is a rich song that is fitting to close the EP.

The music video for “I Need” was directed by Shuto Yasuda, an old friend of ARuM’s who has worked on ARuM’s previous music videos as well as 18scott’s “New Balance.” The video expresses ARuM’s determination and the humid Tokyo night, which matches the atmosphere of the song.
