The music video for “Outside” from Hasegawa Hakushi’s latest album, Magic School, released in July, has been released.
“Magic School” was released by the LA label Brainfeeder. This song, which is the finale of the series, was also performed on “THE FIRST TAKE”. The performance video, which features Yoshiki Mizuno (Ikimonogakari / HIROBA), Shuhei Kato (NOT WONK / SADFRANK), Punipuni Denki, AOI ITOH, Yukkyun, Kasaku Yukichi / men, towa.., Tetsuro Kitada (Tragedy of Mode), and Yana Dahmen (Tragedy of Mode), has been a hot topic, surpassing 1 million views this week.
The music video was directed by Hasegawa Hakushi in collaboration with artist Naoki Takehisa, who also worked on his own artist visuals. Kanikumiitoi’s illustrations were projected onto the train window and filmed in one take, creating a mysterious road movie-like work in which multiple lives unfold simultaneously.
Hasegawa Hakushi will hold his first tour “HAKUSHI HASEGAWA First tour 2024 Magic School District” in five cities nationwide from October. General ticket sales will start at noon on Saturday, September 7th. Check it out.

I directed the music video for “Soto” with Naoki Takehisa (↓). (How many characters will this take…? υ∵υ)
I’m happy that a conversation I had a long time ago with Hasegawa (↑↓) about “I wish we could make a video together” has come to fruition in this way.
The idea that I originally came up with was to have the song “Soto” function as the end credits, but Takehisa elevated it to something that was “progressing” at the same time.
If the end credits mark the completion of something, then humans are (and still are) continuing to go through a series of such completions.
Yes. We are always living in the present.
This is a public statement, so I’m using somewhat pretentious language, but the inside of a moving car is where you can have this kind of conversation, without any restrictions or hesitation, and without even looking the other person in the eye.
That’s right. The illustrations projected on the windshield were drawn by Kanikumiitoi. We sent them some character designs, but it was Kanikumiitoi who brought them to life as ongoing (or previously ongoing) characters.
I would be happy if this music video is able to depict a progression of time that is by no means linear.
Oh, it looks like it’s about to end. Apparently there are already 506 characters (before revision).
