Aichi Prefecture-based rapper lymph and Taiwan-based producer kilodey (kilodey24) will release a collaborative EP titled “No Talking” on Wednesday, September 18th.
Kilodey, who has roots in the UK and Ireland and is currently based in Taiwan, has been in contact with many artists, including the creative collective Sound Sports, and has provided them with unique sounds. His representative works include the song “Mate” featuring rappers Gqsh has Friends and K1g8, released in 2023, and “TBH*” featuring Gifu-based rapper WiL.
As the title suggests, the EP “No Talking” is a work that is based on the theme of “No Talking.” In today’s world, people are more divided than ever before and many people have lost hope. In a globalized digital society, words have lost their meaning even more. Expressions are lost and everyone lives in isolation. This EP aims to focus on feelings rather than endless words, and presents hope to the world about these issues.
The EP contains six tracks, including the two already released, “Rain” and “Slide.” kilodey adds a twist to hip-hop sampling techniques to vividly depict the lymph. Kilodey weaves together influences from US hip-hop, the Korean and Japanese indie scenes, the eerie vocals of Sweden in Northern Europe, soaring synths, and undulating bass to welcome listeners into a creative space. The EP also features AON, a new rapper based in the Tokai region, and Lelolelo, who specializes in a wide range of genres including pop punk and hyper pop. They are said to have infused the EP with fresh ideas.
In addition, ahead of the EP’s release, the music video for the track “Rain” is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, September 14th. The music video, created by Ryo Tokiyoshi of TripRoom, a creative team based in Aichi Prefecture, is set in a beautiful rural landscape and uses delicate, abstract images to express the rain in the title and the sense of frustration it brings.
Furthermore, even after the EP release, music videos directed by various directors will be uploaded one after another. Let’s look forward to further updates.
