The outdoor festival “ishinoko 2024” will be held in Takigaharacho, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture from Saturday, October 12th to Monday, October 14th (national holiday).
The fifth annual “ishinoko” is a festival that celebrates the community, harmony with nature, and creative expression that have been created in the mountainous Takigahara area of Ishikawa Prefecture through three areas: music, food, and art. Based on the theme of “Ancient festivals, now again,” it is an experimental attempt to redefine the traditional festivals of Takigahara, which have declined due to population outflow, by uniting local residents of the Takigahara area with young creators and artists from Japan and abroad.
The main stage will feature live performances by NTsKi, who is active both domestically and internationally, Hayabusa, a Japanese drum trio from Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and experimental musician QOA from Argentina. DJs will include SAMO, who is known as a resident at FULLHOUSE and AMAPINIGHT, Ascalypso, who is also a member of EOU, Vís, and Glocal Pussys from the Kyoto-based label PAL.Sounds, and Akiram En, who has performed at various events large and small all over the country.
The venue will also feature food prepared by specially selected chefs, producers and vendors from Japan and abroad, as well as interactive programs that aim to break down the barriers between audiences and performers and build open relationships.
This year, a new free admission area will be introduced to make it easier for everyone to participate. In addition to the Takigahara Stone Culture Tour, Satoyama Restaurant, and guided hikes by the Kurakakeyama Lovers Association, the event will be a place where visitors can encounter new cultures and experiences, such as pizza made in a Takigahara stone oven, local crafts, and a market selling products from Japan and abroad.
In order to allow people to experience “ishinoko” more deeply, they have also started a crowdfunding-style gift service. Takigahara has a long history of tradition and beautiful nature, but the decline in population has made it difficult for it to continue. Inspired by the cultural heritage and nature of Takigahara, as well as Japan’s ancient “festival” culture, “ishinoko” was launched with the aim of survival and development in a new form.
This time, in order to allow people to experience the spirit of “ishinoko” and the culture of Takigahara in depth, a variety of experience menus and products have been prepared in the form of crowdfunding. By participating in experience tours and purchasing art-filled goods, you can not only contribute to the survival of the culture, but also enjoy “ishinoko” and Takigahara on a deeper level.
