WONK announces release of new album “Shades of” for the first time in two years

It has been announced that WONK will release their first new album in about two years, “Shades of,” on Wednesday, November 13th.

The new album “Shades of” marks a return to a sound centered on soul, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop beats since the first album “Sphere,” and can be summed up in one phrase as “a Tokyo-based beat music chronicle compiled by WONK.”

WONK’s music resonates with soul and hip-hop legends who have made their mark on music history, as well as artists who will make their mark on music history in the future. The album features 13 songs by seven artists from Japan and abroad, including Kiefer, keyboardist/producer for LA’s prestigious label Stones Throw, Japanese R&B pioneer Toshinobu Kubota, and talented rapper Jinmenusagi. The album is a compilation of a chronicle that only WONK, which serves as a hub and relay point for a variety of music genres and artists, could achieve. The CD comes in a double-page paper jacket, and reservations for the CD have started today, Tuesday, September 10th, at various shops and EC sites.

WONK will be held from December 6th (Friday) to December 8th (Sunday) at Yokohama Pia Arena MM in Kanagawa.“Montreux Jazz Festival Japan 2024”They will appear alongside Herbie Hancock and Yoko Kanno’s “YOKO KANNO SEATBELTS.”
