Awich released their new single “Are you serious?” today, Wednesday, September 11th.
Last year, Awich sold out her solo show at K Arena Yokohama in Kanagawa, and in 2024 she will appear at major overseas events such as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in LA and Head In The Clouds New York, hosted by 88rising, in New York, as well as being selected as a co-headliner on the GREEN STAGE at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’24, making remarkable progress.
This song is the theme song for the Netflix series “Evil Queen,” starring Yuriyan Retriever, which is scheduled to be exclusively distributed worldwide on Thursday, September 19th. Yuriyan participated in Awich’s song “Bad Bitch Bigaku Remix” released last year, and the two groups have deepened their friendship through a limited-time regular radio program on J-WAVE. This time, they will be teaming up again through the drama.
The Netflix series “Very Evil Queen” depicts the ins and outs of the industry, centering on Dump Matsumoto, the iconic villain of the women’s professional wrestling boom of the 1970s and 1980s. The song “Are you serious?”, written specifically for the series, strongly resonates with Dump Matsumoto (Yuriyan Retriever) and the female wrestlers who struggle to gain freedom in a male-dominated society, as well as Awich’s powerful lyrics and singing voice, who continues to fight in the music scene.
