Shingo Suzuki releases his third solo project single “All in your palms”

Shingo Suzuki released his new single “All in your palms” today, Wednesday, September 11th.

Shingo Suzuki, also known as the bassist of Ovall, launched a new project “LYPS (Liquid Yellow Portraits)” in May this year. The project, which develops unconventional expressions that go beyond the boundaries of jazz and soul, has released two singles so far, “You don’t know (what life is) feat. Kojoe, Ruri Matsumura” and “Backwards”.

This third single was recorded by a piano trio with Shota Watanabe (Pf.) and Masato Mori (Dr.). Featuring the lyrical piano of Shota Watanabe, one of the most important pianists in the current Japanese jazz scene, the song has a twist in the composition and an alternative, three-dimensional arrangement, making it a song that can be described as “solid alternative jazz.”

The dynamic mix was created by Shingo Suzuki himself, and the artwork was also drawn by him. The artwork depicts “Liquid,” which is also the name of the project, on a canvas.

Composed as a simple piano piece, this song was recorded using a minimalist piano trio format.
In particular, Shota Watanabe’s lyrical piano is featured. This song could be a ballad, but the combination of the loud and impressive drum patterns of Masato Mori and the bass sung as a counter-melody, like a melody, creates an alternative and three-dimensional arrangement.
The meaning of “All in your palms” is “The world is yours”. It is a song of hope for those who are born into this world, even in the midst of the difficult world situation.
