It has been announced that ODD Foot Works will release their new single “Kono Kyōku” on Monday, September 16th (national holiday).
In their February release of “Lines,” ODD Foot Works presented a new style in which Kiichi Arimoto’s singing and Pecori’s rap resonate with each other as if they were crossing over different worlds. This second album in 2024 is “the largest scale in the band’s history, and a completely unique anthem that we can say with confidence that only ODD could have created.”
Following “Daiseki”, the album was produced by Kiichi Arimoto. He further refined the methodology he had acquired in his previous work, and as Arimoto himself commented, “I explored a rhythm that was four on the floor and had no sense of déjà vu.” The beat approach, along with the dignified vocal melody, creates a breathtaking atmosphere, while also creating a sound that makes listeners feel that there is a way for them to react to the music, nod their heads, and dance in their own way. The live drums are handled by up-and-coming drummer Shun Hakogi, who also supports the band in live performances.
The artwork was done by collage artist zekkan, who also designed the flyer for this year’s regular independent event “TOKYO INV.” The image that spreads from “this song” is visualized by overlapping it with the current image of ODD.
In addition, the annual end-of-year solo performance “ODD AREA” will be held at LIQUIDROOM in Ebisu, Tokyo on Saturday, December 28th. The performance will sum up 2024, a year filled with the solo work of each member, and embody the current state of ODD. Be sure to check it out.
[Comment from Pecori (ODD Foot Works)]
Before we knew it, seven years had passed since ODD was formed, and while some friends had passed away and people of our generation were becoming too consumed and feeling like they couldn’t take it anymore, this song was a steady but definite step forward, and it showed our present, where we continue to move forward.
[Comment from Kiichi Arimoto (ODD Foot Works)]
I created this song while exploring a four-on-the-floor rhythm that has no sense of deja vu, and with a huge stage in mind, hoping that the song would become more enjoyable the bigger the venue.
[Comment from Shun Enomoto (ODD Foot Works)]
As soon as we heard Kiichi’s demo, all the members were excited.
This song is the largest scale in Odfoot’s history.
Feel the temperature now.
