Hong Kong-born, UK-based artist mui zyu will be holding his first tour of Japan in December.
mui zyu is the solo project of Eva Liu. She has been attracting attention for her unique and fantastical Asian soundscapes, fusing dreamy strings with tape-like drum samples and traditional Chinese instruments.
On his first album, Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century (2023), Bun delved into his identity and cultural transition as a native of Hong Kong, while his second album, Nothing or Something to Die for (2024), looks outward and explores the chaos that exists in modern times. While looking at the absurdity, Bun delivers a poignant message of encouragement, encouraging listeners to connect with others and find solace within themselves in order to find the path we long for.
A Cantonese version of the latest song was released today, Friday, September 13th. In addition, mui zyu has announced that she will be appearing at Clockenflap, one of the largest international festivals in Hong Kong and one of the leading festivals in Asia. With momentum building, mui zyu’s first tour in Japan will take place on Tuesday, December 10th at Tsukimiru Kimi Omofu in Aoyama, Tokyo, Wednesday, December 11th at KD JAPON in Nagoya, Aichi, and Thursday, December 12th at UrBANGUILD in Kyoto. In each location, she will perform with MANAKANA, marucoporoporo, Eri Nagami, and Yutai Communications.
