Shin Tokyo has announced that they will be releasing a new EP, “Shin Tokyo #5,” at the end of October. The lead single, “This Reality,” was released today, September 18th (Wednesday).
Shin Tokyo released their first album “NEO TOKYO METRO” in February this year, and will hold a solo concert at Zepp Shinjuku (TOKYO) in November. Their new album “Shin Tokyo #5” will be released soon and will contain 4 songs built with a novel concept. The content is said to hint at the solo concert mentioned above, and the specific release date will be announced at a later date.
The new song “This Reality” is the second pre-release single following “New Dimension” released in July.

About three years ago, I saw a news story about a dairy farmer in Turkey who was equipping his cows with VR headsets and showing them vast grasslands, reducing stress and increasing milk production.
While the dairy farmers were innocent and this was probably a good thing for the industry, the indescribable sense of unease I felt at the time not only prompted me to consider ethical issues and consumer society, but also gave me a meta-view of the world I live in.
The newly released EP “Shintokyo #5” and solo live show “NEOVERSE” at Zepp Shinjuku, as well as the accompanying artwork, express these thoughts and I hope they will serve as a starting point for a new dimension for Shintokyo and its listeners.
