Kani Ningen announces release of his second experimental solo project, “Ask the Water Surface”

It has been announced that Kyoto-born musician Kani Ningen will release his new single “Mizumen ni Tou” today, Wednesday, September 25th.

Kani Ningen also attracted attention with his first album “yolkwhite” released at the end of 2022. This is the second work of his experimental solo project, following “Nami wo sukuu” released in June. The song was created with a focus on rhythm, combining an ambient sound with a techno-style beat, and the piece unfolds while breaking down the rhythm like a jazz improvisation.

The artwork was done by contemporary artist Miyo Ogawa, just like the previous album. Mixing and mastering was done by KUROMAKU, who works as a producer, beat maker, and mix/mastering engineer for hip-hop artists such as DADA, ZERRY, and 018, as well as artists such as Maito Shimizu.

This work will be performed by the unit Kani Ningen will be participating in for three days from Friday, September 20th to Sunday, September 22nd at the Toyooka Theater Festival 2024.UnfumIt was presented in a live performance that combined it with contemporary dance and was well received.
