Shingo Suzuki releases his second album in 16 years with participation from 5lack, Kojoe, Nenashi and others

It has been announced that Shingo Suzuki will release his new album, “Liquid Yellow Portraits,” on Wednesday, October 30th.

Shingo Suzuki, who is also the bassist of Ovall, started a new solo project, LYPS (Liquid Yellow Portraits), in May of this year. In this project, he works with artists who resonate with his music, and three singles have been released so far.

This full-length album features a star-studded lineup of musicians including Watanabe Shota (Pf.), Mamoru Masato (Ds.), FUYU (Ds.), Terakubo Reiya (Tr.), rappers 5lack and Kojoe, singers Ruri Matsumura and Nenashi, and Ol’K for poetry reading. The dynamic mix was done by Shingo Suzuki himself, and it is said to be a powerful work that crosses genres and generations, including hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and classical music.

The production of this work is based on the production method of precisely editing and mixing the production / sampling / live performance that I have been making so far, but it has become a journey of work that includes a lot of organic and alternative elements with jazz musicians. It is a seamless fusion of hip-hop derived beat making and improvisational jazz-inspired live performance.
It’s a recording that brings together opposing elements. All the musicians who participated are featured artists. And this album is filled with my current music and worldview.
This album is not a collection of singles, but each song is a piece created specifically for the album.
Each song has its own color, the order of the songs follows a story-like flow, and the whole thing, including the artwork, is one unified work.
There are some parts where there is no gap between songs, so all the songs are musically connected. Please listen to the songs in order. I think you will be able to feel a more convincing musical story.
One of the joys of an album is the experimental and free approach to creating music, and there’s plenty of room for exploration so be sure to discover it.
