DubGuy releases 1st EP “About Time (High time)” from

Tokyo-based DJ/producer DubGuy released his 1st EP “About Time (High time)” today, September 27th (Friday).

In addition to his energetic DJ activities, he has released singles from TREKKIE TRAX and 85 acid, and his song “Supa Dupa” under the name Uh-U!, a sound unit with Hizuo, a producer from the same generation, is making waves in the domestic club scene. It became a hit, receiving support from star DJs such as salute and Conducta, and became a hot topic.

This work, released by , is said to be a work that uses music to recreate the feeling of summer time that he experienced for the first time after moving to Tokyo. Fun times pass in an instant, while moments lost in thought feel longer, so the intense songs are purposefully short and the quiet songs feel long. In addition, he expresses the change in his thinking by changing musical genres, aiming for free musical expression, such as from techno to electro, and from electro to techno. The reason this work is inspired by techno and electro is that DubGuy himself wanted to sublimate the wonderful experiences he had with such music.

The title track “About Time” has a loop structure that goes from techno to electro to techno, similar to human thought patterns, where new ideas and ideas are born from past experiences. “Strain Simulation” is a song created with Sireve, a friend from DubGuy’s hometown of Osaka. DubGuy, who likes to listen to electro with Russian roots, which is not often heard in Japan, and Sireve, who is heavily influenced by music games, mix their roots and reconstruct this song. . “High Time” is a work that extracts sounds from his past works and reconstructs them. In terms of development, it has a more ravishing nuance than “About Time”, and is an ambitious song with development in each part, such as the use of modular synths and extensive use of effects.
