PARCO hosts art & culture festival “POND 2024”

The art and culture event “POND” sponsored by PARCO will be held from October 4th (Friday) to October 14th (Monday).

This year, which marks the 5th time, a variety of artists from art, music, and fashion will gather together at Shibuya PARCO. Events such as exhibitions and performances will be held to create a place for artists and viewers to create new perspectives and inspiration.

The concept for 2024 is “SIDE BY SIDE/next to each other and spread out.” Nowadays, we receive a lot of information every day, and a variety of values and ways of being are being celebrated. Through the experience of viewing “POND,” I was able to see the same things next to each other again. Try standing shoulder-to-shoulder with people who think differently than you and looking in the same direction. The aim is to create a space where one’s field of vision expands even more than it currently does through internal communication with others. Shibuya PARCO, located in Japan’s most scrambled city, provides an opportunity to think about seeing different things and seeing the same thing.

This year, we have invited Toru Kase as art director. Based on the event concept “SIDE BY SIDE,” he created a visual with his own hands as a motif. In addition, the architectural collective GROUP is in charge of the spatial design.

They are connected.

Furthermore, on the first day, October 4th (Friday), an opening party will be held at ComMunE & ROOF TOP PARK on the 10th floor of Shibuya PARCO. There will be live/DJ performances by Dongurizu, SUNNY ONLY 1, AkA NGS (Dos Monos), midori (the hatch), and others.

[Toru Kase comment]

“This year’s POND theme is ‘SIDE BY SIDE.’ For example, when different people view a single work, they each have different thoughts and emotions. If you look at it from the other side, you can see that different people have different thoughts and emotions. At the beginning of the production of the key visual, I was told, “It’s a single piece of work that has different thoughts and emotions.” Therefore, as a creator, I used one of my hands, which I use every day, to create several images of hands in several different environments and proposed them as key visuals. did.

Some of my hands, which have become key visuals, are both my own hands, and at the same time, they are also multiple hands with different impressions within each image.

In addition, for digital signage production (video production), Daisuke Hasegawa and Takumi Bando of Daisuke Hasegawa Studio reinterpreted the image of my hand and produced a video.
