Up-and-coming SSW Mei Watanabe to release new song “Comet” produced by Shinichi Osawa

It has been announced that SSW’s Mei Watanabe will release her new single “Comet” on October 16th (Wednesday).

Mei Watanabe is a rising star who attracted attention with the release of her 1st EP “Hikari”, which was composed and recorded vocals on an iPhone. This is Mei Watanabe’s first new song in about a year, and it is said to be a song that contains questions she has as a young person living in the uncertain world of today. The producer is Shinichi Osawa (MONDO GROSSO), who Mei Watanabe has been listening to since childhood due to her mother’s influence.

During the production process, the two had multiple sessions over six months, and Mei Watanabe wrote the lyrics herself, receiving a lot of inspiration from Shinichi Osawa’s attitude as an artist and his music.

This work has been selected as FM NORTH WAVE’s “MEGA PLAY” for October 2024, and the song will begin airing on radio from today, October 1st (Tuesday). Pre-orders are now available on Apple Music and Spotify.

As a 21-year-old living in the 21st century, this work contains everything I’m thinking about right now.
“How do we live now when we feel like something is about to happen?”
I created this work while asking such questions.
Through repeated sessions with Mr. Osawa, I was able to face the songs head-on, receive various stimulations, and feel that I was able to grasp a new sense of expression that I had not had before.

It was an initiative that reaffirmed the importance of being involved in artists’ debuts and early careers.
Through the production process, I discovered and learned many things, and I felt that no matter how many times I tried the process of creating great music, no two pieces were the same. Among all of this, I feel that the work to remove something that seemed like a “hook” inside her had at least achieved some results.
I also think that the “journey” that took more than 6 months from the idea to completion of this song was very meaningful and necessary. I would appreciate it if you could listen to it over and over again.
