xiangyu releases MV for Coldhot’s 7-minute long rap song “#Let’s Reuse”

A project by the Japan Glass Bottle Association called “Let’s do it!” Reuse! The music video for the rap song “#Let’s Reuse”, which was created during the “Returnable Bottle Rap Challenge”, has been released.

“let’s! Reuse! The “Returnable Bottle Wrap Challenge” project was carried out this summer as part of “SO BLUE ACTION,” an activity to rediscover and redefine the value of returnable bottles and bottle reuse mechanisms. This is a new attempt to create a rap song by converting the number of returnable bottles returned at public baths into hours. Each returned returnable bottle was converted into one second, and public bath-loving artists xiangyu and Coldhot created a rap song based on that length.

In this project, 415 returnable bottles were collected, and a long rap song totaling 6 minutes and 55 seconds was completed. The track crosses genres such as breakbeats, drum’n’bass, and ambient, and xiangyu’s expressive rap is featured in a mix of martial arts-like dance music. The music video was directed by Kairi Sato.

This song is scheduled to be released on various streaming services on Wednesday, November 13th.

Repeating the phrase “returnable bottle” over and over again makes you want to hum! I think it became an addictive song. The speed, beat, and atmosphere of the song kept changing over the course of just under seven minutes, so it was difficult to change the mood and rap within that time.
The scene in the public bath during the MV shooting was memorable, and it was the first time I had ever seen a public bath with lighting that made it look like a club (lol), so it was quite interesting to shoot there. Good memories!
I didn’t know about the existence of “returnable bottles” until I participated in this project, but I learned that they are very environmentally friendly. Drink deliciously, have fun and be eco-friendly. I would be happy if this project served as an opportunity to further spread the use of returnable bottles.

[Comment from Shinya Takano (Coldhot)]

Those days when I was an elementary school student, I used to take empty bottles to the local liquor store and buy cheap sweets with the 10 yen I got back.
Thanks to this project, the doors of such memories are fully opened and my emotions are marbled.
At that time, I never imagined that I would write a song about returnable bottles in the future. It’s an honor to be able to work on this project, which is both environmentally friendly and interesting.
When people listen to this song, they say things like, “Come to think of it, that’s true,” or “It’s strange that I got 10 yen back.” or “I don’t really get it, but it’s a really great song.” I would appreciate it if you could feel this and think about bottles and the earth even just a little bit.
Finally, I would like to thank so many people for their help and cooperation in carrying out this project. thank you very much.
