New award “TOKYO ALTER MUSIC AWARD” announces 13 winners in 5 categories


The awards ceremony for the newly established music award “TOKYO ALTER MUSIC AWARD” was held on Saturday, October 26th.

TOKYO ALTER MUSIC is an organization whose purpose is to popularize and support alternative music in Japan, support musicians, revitalize the alternative music scene, and support artists’ global activities starting from Asia. Members include Yoshiaki Tsushima (origami PRODUCTIONS), Yutaka Takanami (Namy & Inc.), Isao Matsushima (arne Inc.), and Jun Hayashi (Spincoaster Inc.).

The TOKYO ALTER MUSIC AWARD honors alternative and independent music artists and people. Artists), Best Breakthrough Artists (breakthrough artists who started attracting attention in 2024), Contribution to Asia (persons who greatly contributed to market expansion and artists’ success in Asia in 2024), Best Creative (creatives in 2024) 5 categories of producers and creators who were involved in music videos. The five artists selected as Best Breakthrough Artists will receive support for booking and travel expenses (200,000 yen for each artist / 1 million yen total for all groups) for festival appearances in Asia.

Approximately 70 invited music professionals attended the award ceremony. “TOKYO ALTER MUSIC AWARD” member Yutaka Takanami (Namy& Inc.) and model/radio personality Yui Kanno acted as hosts, and in addition to delivering message videos and audio comments from each award winner, they also delivered messages directly to the venue. The three people who came to the event, Whyte?te, Kitamura Fuki, and Reina, took the stage.
