“umm edition”, a party that connects Korean and Japanese electronic music, will be held on November 17th (Sunday) at TimeOut Cafe & Dinner in Ebisu, Tokyo.
“umm edition”, which started in March of this year, attracted a lot of attention by inviting Kim Doeon, a cutting-edge electronic musician from Seoul, South Korea, for the first time. This second edition will feature notable artists from Seoul’s electronic music scene, HWI, Mount XLR, and Wona, aiming to create a special night where they can connect with Japanese artists.
HWIis an electronic musician/producer who captures his own voice as sound and sublimates it into fantastic electro music. He has attracted attention every time he releases a work, including featuring artists such as multi-artist Lang Lee and Silica Gel vocalist Kim Hanjoo in his songs. Please pay attention to the live performance, which uses voice and body with a modern art approach.
Play based on dub techno, trip hop, etc.Wonais one of the key figures in the current IDM scene in Seoul’s underground. Shokuhin Matsuri aka foodman also participated as a remixer for the 12-inch single, which includes songs from the album “Happy Trippy Creepy.” This will be their first live performance in Japan. I want to be intoxicated by that dark, deep sound.
Their name has become widely known both domestically and internationally through their songs such as “900 Wasps” featuring Korea’s leading R&B singer Crush and their participation in Aespa’s Remixes.Mount XLRstudied music at Goldsmiths College in London, where James Blake was enrolled, and is currently developing his activities based on soul. They have established their own unique sound by mixing bewitching sounds such as UK bass, UK garage, footwork and acid techno. At this event, he will perform as a DJ.
From Japan, live acts will include RYOKO2000, a unit made up of noripi and Piano Man, and Oni, a new unit made up of Cwondo, also known as the frontman of No Buses, and electronic musician uku kasai. As a DJ, ANiIIIIiiiKii is attracting attention both domestically and internationally for his extensive mix of house, techno, and bass music. He also appeared on “umm edition vol. 1,” and his thinly veiled ambient to electro-centered DJ play left a beautiful impression. The lineup included Mitsume’s vocalist and musician Moto Kawabe, who was a hit.
It looks like it will be a night where you can deeply immerse yourself in the sounds of Japanese and Korean artists who express themselves in their respective fields.
