I started producing an album in 2022, and around that time I started thinking about changing my living environment. My resolve to leave the place where I was born and raised came together surprisingly easily, and I now don’t understand why I had remained so attached to my hometown until now. Even before the pandemic, the gap between the music that I can express and the music that I want to express began to diverge, and since the pandemic, the gap between them has become completely separated, and the conflicts that arise during that process are covered in a lot of detail. However, in addition to negative emotions, there was also hope and joy for change. From negative to positive. I completed it with the belief that things are definitely going in the right direction. In addition, all of the collaborators who cooperated with us this time amplified and concentrated all of these emotions, and then moved them all in a positive direction. I have nothing but gratitude. It was very moving to see my music, which had been self-contained until now, go through someone else’s filter and not just myself, and I learned a lot. It covers the music that I wanted to play at the time, such as R&B, 2step, UK garage, Dubstep, Hyperpop, etc. It’s packed with both pop and coolness. This work is filled with the same amount of fun as opening a box that arrives at your home. Please listen and dance a lot!

When I decided to collaborate with Nenashi-san, I decided to value my intuition after hearing Nenashi-san’s singing voice. Nenashi’s singing voice has a nostalgic, warm yet clear feel to it that reminds me of summer in my hometown, and I wanted to somehow express that through music. While incorporating elements of Afrobeat and Amapiano, I created it in my own way. Nenashi freely sang on the track. I was able to further expand my image and express the dual aspects of “summer”, which was a major theme, in the lyrics. The lyrics are all in English, but Nenashi has added some Japanese words that I couldn’t see this year, but which are a “summer tradition” that I also love! I would appreciate it if you would pay attention to the lyrics, singing voice, and everything else! Let’s all dance!

When I received this song, the first thing that came to mind was the amapiano scene.
The final result is Shigge’s sound, but the log drums and balafon that are included throughout are reminiscent of the invitation of a night that continues to swell in a boiling hot summer, and you can play freely within it. I tried adding various melodies. From there, we expanded on words that fit Shigge’s image. I happened to be close to my hometown, so I had many experiences that I could relate to, and I wrote the lyrics with a sense of nostalgia. Even as I sang about my positive feelings toward the things I wanted to try, I was imagining what kind of place “Another Side” would be like, another world that I couldn’t experience. It was a new challenge for me personally, but I’d be happy if you could feel the authentic aspects as well. Let’s all dance!
