The collaboration single “Prism of Habanera” by Okinawan SSW Kiwako Ajimine and conductor/classical DJ Aoi Mizuno was released today, October 30th (Wednesday).
Kiwako Ajimine still has fresh memories of winning the audition project “RINGOOO A GO-GO” and performing at “Ringo Music Festival 2024”. This song combines Ao Mizuno’s danceable arrangement of the famous song “Habanera” from the opera “Carmen” with Ajimine’s clear yet powerful singing voice. Ajimine had been listening to “Habanera”, which is included in Mizuno’s third album “VOICE – An Awakening At The Opera”, which attempts to “contemporarily update opera and songs”, and this led to him The collaboration was made possible by the offer. Anjimine’s mother is an opera singer, and this work can be said to convey a new appeal to classical music, which is also his roots.
[Comment from Kiwako Ajimine]
When I was a child, I was captivated by the splendor of the performance of Carmen, where my mother stood.
It would be no exaggeration to say that those vivid memories inspired me to become a singer.
The song Habanera is one of the special songs for me.
When I found Habanera produced by Aoi Mizuno on a subscription service
The shock and excitement was so intense that I felt like my heart was exploding, and I immediately contacted him while playing the song.
“I want to dance on stage at Habanera,” he said with all his heart, and he returned my feelings with the perfect arrangement.
The sound is as if beautiful, shining ores are scattered all over the place, and it makes you think it’s a miracle that it all came together in one song.
Please enjoy the expressive sound makeup and the voice that can dance freely on the sound stage!
[Comment from Aoi Mizuno]
I feel like, “I finally found Kiwako Ajimine!!” This is all I can say. Since the first day I heard her singing voice, I had strongly hoped that she would definitely invite me to perform in my work someday, but I never expected that I would actually receive an offer from her… Thank you very much, Kiwako-san, for this wonderful opportunity.
A bewitching yet dazzling melody line, and a profound chorus that spreads endlessly. That voice clearly shows the scenery and the story.
Mixed by Yuman Han, who is also well-known from Mizuno Denki, and mastered by Moe Kazama, this is an extremely important sound source that was created with the strongest lineup working together. I don’t want to be too self-congratulatory, but the quality of the finished product was better than I expected. Well, please listen to it as if you have been fooled. Surrender yourself to this “sea of voices”. Because it will blow you away.
