Under the slogan “Bringing Power Back to Music Creators,” music creators, labels, and other buyers from around the world will share unreleased songs, promoting the discovery of new talent and the monetization of creators. Digital marketplace “SURF Music” will be holding a remix contest for “When It’s a Christmas Carol” in collaboration with Japanese city pop legend Junichi Inagaki.
“Christmas Carol Koro wa” is a big hit song by Junichi Inagaki that was released in 1992. A heartbreaking love song depicting the conflict of a lost heart. In 1992, it ranked 10th on the Oricon Single Chart and won the Japan Gold Disc Award the following year. Even now, more than 30 years after its release, it is still a city pop song that is often heard, especially during the Christmas season, and has become a “standard Japanese Christmas song” that everyone knows.
The remix contest will be held from November 1st (Friday) to November 22nd (Friday). The winning work will receive a prize of $3,000 and a SURF BONUS of $1,000, for a total of $4,000, and will also be released online. Check the link below for application details.
