“Juriki – A Festival for Living” is held, a comprehensive art festival where clothing, food, living, music and beauty are mixed.

The comprehensive art festival “Juriki – A Festival for Living” will be held from November 21st (Friday) to November 24th (Sunday) at the German Cultural Center in Tokyo.

Sponsored by architecture group SAMPO inc. in collaboration with music label BLACK SMOKER RECORDS and Goethe-Institut Tokyo, this festival is a complex event that expresses the power to live. Artists with “juriki”, or “power to live”, gather from each area of “clothing, food, sumo, and beauty.” A variety of expressions will be mixed together, including exhibitions, live performances, workshops, and food experiences.

Based on the idea of “disaster culture,” the theme is whether we can build up the ability to respond to emergencies that may occur at any time, rather than waiting until they occur, on a daily basis. The highlight will be the “Hus”, a spatial musical instrument that will rise in the center of the venue and, like a tower, will be the center of everyone’s gathering.

Hus image perspective

The interior of Hus, which means “house,” is equipped with materials that produce sound in a 360-degree direction, and percussionists Tomoo Nagai and Ryotaro Miyasaka perform. You will also be able to experience sessions by up-and-coming artists such as Shijin, KOM_I, and ermhoi that can only be seen at this festival.

Check the official website for details on each performance, workshop, etc.
