xiangyu releases “Poo Patpong Curry” remixes with the participation of 4 overseas producers

The remix of xiangyu’s first sound source “Poo Patpong Curry” released in 2018 was distributed on Friday, November 22nd.

This work is a remix of “Poo Patpong Curry”, which is based on the rhythmic South African dance music Gqom (Gqom), by DJs and producers who also have Gqom roots.

DJ Raff is originally from Chile and currently based in London, Emo Kidm is from Durban, South Africa, Jay Mitta is known for his releases on the Ugandan label Nyege Nyege Tapes, and he is based in Mauritius, an island country located in the Indian Ocean. Four groups from Babani Soundsystem participated as remixers. Each of them has reconstructed the original song with their own unique approach, incorporating not only rubber but also Singeli.

This album will be released by Chiguiro Records, a Paris-based company that handles works by up-and-coming artists in the world’s bass scene, with a focus on African and Latin electronic music.

In addition, xiangyu will hold a self-planned event titled “Hyimoku Katamari” at Sportify O-nest in Shibuya, Tokyo on December 2nd (Monday). In addition to the last percussion set live performance of the year, a talk event with contemporary artist Koichi Mitsuoka and xiangyu is also planned for the day.
