iri’s new song “Faster than me” will be distributed for free on ABEMA from 21:00 on Monday, December 9th & is the theme of ABEMA’s original drama series “Kakette mo the shapes of love”, which will be distributed simultaneously worldwide on Netflix. I decided on a song.
“Faster than me” is a song written and composed by music producer Nariaki Obukuro and sung by iri. “Memories rewritten by the passing days / All I can think of is your back” “Every day I knew you were there / So don’t turn around, in front of me” These are reminiscent of the relationship between the main characters in the main story of the drama. The delicate feelings of love are expressed in a mellow melody. It has also been decided that the game will be released on December 11th (Wednesday).
When deciding on the theme song, iri commented, “I sang it while imagining the story of Ren and Miu.” The preview video released in conjunction with this announcement features the encounter between Ren (Yokohama Ryusei), who has been appointed as a special lecturer at an art university, and Miu (Minami Sara), who is an assistant at the same art university, and the fateful encounter at a bar. The theme song depicts the gradual changes in the relationship between the two, such as their reunion and the first night they spent together.
The drama’s music is handled by Yaffle, a member of TOKA, which he co-founded with Nariaki Obukuro.

This time, Obukuro-kun sang “Faster than me,” which was created in line with the worldview of the drama, while imagining the story of Ren and Miu.
I would be happy if this song could touch the feelings of everyone who will be watching the drama from now on.
[Yaffle comment]
I tried to make the music match the delicate world created by Director Nakagawa. I am proud to have been able to create this work together with the producers, artists, and staff who are fighting at the forefront of the scene.
[Director Ryutaro Nakagawa’s comment]
I was very excited when it was decided that I would be able to work with Nariaki Obukuro, whom I had met during my student days and whose activities I had been following ever since. It is a memory I will never forget that he dedicated his singing voice to my starting point, “Run, faster than despair can catch up to me.”
I have always felt close to Yaffle as we have many mutual friends. The Japanese version of “Even if I Know” is structured so that each episode focuses on one person. Just as each person is the main character in their own life, we ask each person to create a melody that serves as the theme. Mr. Yaffle, who orchestrated the music that represents their hearts, is another main character in this story.
When I imagined the inner voice of Miu, played by Sara Minami, I felt that iri’s singing voice would fit perfectly. Miu appears to be delicate and quiet, but there is a fierceness in her heart. I believe that iri’s earnest and powerful singing voice expressed Miu’s heart.
When the hidden emotions of Ren, played by Ryusei, are revealed, the magic of “Faster than me” that has brightly colored the story takes place, and Ren’s story, and the story of both of them, comes to fruition through music. Until that moment, please keep your eyes peeled and watch this love story!
