DURDN, a Japanese-Korean music project by Baku, SHINTA, and yacco, has received high praise for their songs and performances on streaming, live concerts, and music festivals and events. They are preparing to release their new single “idealistic” on January 29th (Wednesday), and started their biggest tour in the band’s history “DURDN Live Tour 2024-2025 GET ON THE BOAT” from November last year, visiting five cities nationwide. The final performance of the tour will be held on January 17th (Friday) at Spotify O-EAST in Shibuya, Tokyo. The official report from the very successful day has arrived.

On January 17th, the final performance of DURDN’s tour “Live Tour 2024-2025 GET ON THE BOAT” was held at Spotify O-EAST in Shibuya, Tokyo. They continued to communicate with the audience while performing a variety of songs one after another, creating the best sense of unity. We will report on a live performance in which you can clearly see what they have accumulated over the years.

Support members Jun Tomoda (Key.), Gaku Usui (Bas.), Ruya Inoue (Dr.) appeared on stage to perform Michael Jackson’s “Get on the Floor” and SHINTA (Gt., Mani. ). Finally, when Baku (Vo.) appeared, he greeted with the greeting, “Good evening, this is DURDN,” and the live started with “ON THE ISLAND,” which was released last November in conjunction with this tour. Baku immediately pointed his microphone at the floor and asked for a sing-along, and the audience responded with all their might. From there, songs such as “TOKIDOKI” and “Summer Jumbo” that made you dance with powerful grooves were layered on top of each other, and the excitement on stage and on the floor gradually increased. Baku, who sings while shaking his body violently, and SHINTA, who takes steps while performing everything from light cuts to cool riffs, are in high spirits.

“It’s really hot. I was too excited from the beginning,” said Baku. He had already taken off the hoodie he was wearing and was now wearing short sleeves. Only this song was allowed to be filmed, so smartphones were pointed at the stage from all over the floor. SHINTA’s synth solo was also vividly decided, and “Regrets” and “306” were arranged for this tour. As Baku’s song glided over the rhythm, SHINTA’s guitar solo reverberated with emotion once again. ).

Next, we went to the cover song section, which we are trying for the first time on this tour. From the three candidate songs “LA・LA・LA LOVE SONG” (Toshinobu Kubota with Naomi Campbell), “Midnight Door~stay with me” (Miki Matsubara), “DISTANCE” (Hikaru Utada), various performances for each tour. It’s a playful section where the audience is asked to decide on a song in a unique way. Every time Baku suggested the title of a potential song, cheers erupted from the audience, showing that music lovers of all ages, new and old, were here. In response to the cheers, Baku sang a line of each song. On this day, each member of the audience decided the name of the song based on how loud they shouted, and it became “Midnight Door~stay with me.” A more powerful arrangement of this city pop masterpiece seamlessly led to “Palm,” and a mirror ball started spinning, transforming O-EAST into a moody dance floor.

While feeling nostalgic for standing on this stage at “Spotify Early Noise Night” two years ago in 2023, he performed a surprise verse in honor of the fact that the previous day, January 16th, was the anniversary of the release of his 1st single “Conflict.” Then, the live show moved on to the second half. While the dazzling strobe lights flashed, “Runner’s High” rang out in the upper part and they suddenly changed gears, and the hard sound of “WARUNORI” further accelerated the momentum. The contrast between SHINTA’s noisy guitar and Baku’s soulful vocals was very vivid.

Both Baku and SHINTA gave a high-tension performance that resonated with each other, and after the support member’s solo performance of “I Want to Forget,” which showed off the band’s solid skills and groove, the concert was coming to an end. The new song “idealistic”, which will be released on January 29th, was delivered here. The large-scale sound of this song, which was delivered along with Baku’s words, “a song about chasing and reaching your ideals,” gradually spread across the floor. Baku’s vocals gradually become more passionate as the song progresses, as if he is speaking to the audience. When the song ended, there was a loud cheer.

After “apart,” they also performed another new song, “Hearth Place,” which is a coupling to “idealistic.” It was refreshing to see Baku singing softly while leaning into the microphone stand. The song begins with a mellow and simple sound, but as it develops dramatically, the stage lighting becomes more and more intense, stirring up emotion. SHINTA violently shook his head while playing his guitar, and the resounding bass shook the venue. The power that could not be contained within the size of O-EAST was enough to show off DURDN’s latest form and future. Baku and SHINTA then leave the stage as the outro continues to play. The main part of the live show came to an end as they received a big round of applause.

During the encore with another member, top liner yacco, he talked about the tour title, saying, “’GET ON THE BOAT’ is a parody of ‘Get on the Floor’ (Michael Jackson is the root of SHINTA).I don’t dance. “We have to do it, everyone,” SHINTA incited the audience and delivered the uppercut “Study.” The refrain of “Ah Seikatsu” involving everyone from the support members to the floor immediately increases the voltage, and the song ends with “Drink!”. Yacco’s solo part also drew cheers. Shouting, moving their bodies, clapping their hands…the audience participated with all their might, creating the ultimate sense of unity, and the tour came to a close. “Thank you for being on the same boat!” There was a sense of fulfillment in Baku’s words, which expressed his feelings in the tour title.
