US SSW MEI SEMONES with Japan’s roots, 1st album “Animaru” release decision

It has been announced that Brooklyn’s SSW / guitarist Mei Semones will release the 1st album “Animaru” on May 2 (Friday).

MEI SEMONES is from Annerbar, Michigan, who has learned guitar performance, mainly jazz at Berkeley College of Music. He has a Japanese mother and has released works that incorporate Japanese into lyrics and song names. Last year, he participated in the 2nd solo album “Mukuge” released by Chelmico Maiko Suzuki, and performed live in Japan, such as performances at Blue Note Place and appearing on “Bikn Shibuya”.

The album “Animaru”, which has been about a year since the EP “Kabutomushi” released last year, is a work that will give you more adventurous, damaged, and confident sounds than ever before. “Don’t think about the future, don’t think too much. The way I want is to do something important for me, and I think everyone should live.” I’m talking.

MEI SEMONES and the five -member band members recorded this work last summer at a studio, Ashlawn Recording Company, located on Connecticut’s farm run by his friend Charles Dahlke. The song she brought into the session, unlike Kabutomushi, declare sophisticated and non -romantic love, such as love for life, love for families, music, and love for guitar. “Animaru” is a proof of her fascinating width as a songwriter and musician, including the most challenging and most straightforward song she wrote so far.

“Dumb Feeling”, which was distributed today on Tuesday, February 4th, is a song that decorates the opening of the album and blends Bossa and Samba. In order to express that he is satisfied with his life in NY, the rust has a sense of Indianlock. The video of the song also reflects that, reflecting her before joining the band with a rehearsal.

She commented on “Dumb Feeling” as follows: “The MV of” Dumb Feeling “depicts a day in NY, running around the city, rehearsing the band while traveling around the city and Brooklyn. This video is this song for me. What you mean, the love, gratitude, satisfaction of this city, friends here, the music we make, and the attractive chaos of this city such as a squeaking train, rat, and pigeons. Ta”.

The album “ANIMARU” is a Japanese version of the Japanese CD, and the limited color board LP is released worldwide. Bonus tracks are included on the Japanese version CD.
