Tokyo-based SSW Kaho released their first single “Flavor” on Wednesday, May 15th.
Kaho is a new artist from Hyogo Prefecture who is aiming for a 2000s R&B revival. Producer/multi-instrumentalist KKJ was in charge of the beat making for this album, and while pursuing the R&B sound of the 2000s, they aimed to create a piece that would also work in the modern scene.
Engineer Ted Jensen (STERLING SOUND), who also works with Hikaru Utada, was appointed for mastering. It is an impressive song with the sound of the time, with a tight beat and chorus work, and lyrics that sublimate Kaho’s unique interpretation of the universal theme of a swaying girl’s heart.
