MoMo covers Doja Cat Joins Apple Music playlist to celebrate International Women’s Day

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Apple Music has updated its playlist “Alpha.”

International Women’s Day is a commemorative day set by the United Nations in 1975, “the day to appeal for women’s participation and advancement of society.” Apple Music celebrates female artists who have made history and transformed their playlist, Alpha, which has emerged as a space to redefine the meaning of women’s power.

The playlist features female artists from various countries and regions selected for the project and featured a number of famous songs by Billie Eilish, Madonna, Lana Del Rey, and others, from newly covered female artists. You can get into every aspect of how femininity is reflected and felt to one woman, or to many women. The playlist also presents opportunities for women to start a conversation, enhance each other, and challenge existing concepts through the simple meaning of “existing.”

New singer MoMo from Japan will be participating. With roots in gospel and black music, she covers Doja Cat’s song “Woman,” which celebrates the strength of women, with vocal direction by singer AI. MoMo commented on the song, “The appeal of this song is that it envelops all the strength, diversity and the softness that exists within it. I feel that it gives us confidence by saying, ‘We have many aspects of it, but that’s what we are all about.'”
