It has been announced that RUNG HYANG will release their new album “MOMENT” on Wednesday, April 2nd.
The Billboard Live Tour, which will be held at Billboard Live OSAKA on Sunday, April 20th and at Billboard Live TOKYO on Thursday, April 24th, is truly gaining momentum, with advance reservations sold out in just 10 minutes. This is the first new album in 7 years since “PHOTOGRAPH” released in 2018.
I’ve finally completed the work “MOMENT.”
This work contains a total of nine songs. Not only will the singles released since last year, but also three new songs will be added, including “Leriro,” a combination of a 70’s sweet soul-style chorus and a trap-like beat, the ballad “Part of me,” a ballad about farewelling and “sawing off,” aging-themed middle tune “Life is vintage,” and the up-tempo “Bounce Up All the Time,” a challenge to the popular South African music genre, “Ama Piano,” as well as three new songs.
Like “Life is vintage”, the title song “MOMENT”, which Tomokazu Matsuzawa (TOM) performs sound production, is a savage disco boogie with sparkling mirror balls in your mind. Rather than being swayed by an ambiguous future, he speaks to memorize the “moments” of everyday life. It is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, March 19th, ahead of the album distribution, and is a killer tune that is sure to raise expectations for the album release for the first time in a while and for the Billboard Live tour, which is his first solo performance.
The following song, “week by week,” was produced by Shingo.S, a friend of mine who has worked on numerous RUNG HYANG songs, including his signature song “Trapped.” It is a sweet song that ponders the preciousness of “walking along the normal everyday life together” while riding a beat that gives you a sense of a walking journey in Y2K’s vintage neo-soul-style sound world.
“Uriariran,” who has teamed up for the first time with Mori Zentaro, also known as SIRUP, BE:FIRST, Matsushita Kohei, and others, is a song written about his roots as a Korean III in Japan. While looking back on the bitter experience of being treated as a foreigner even in Japan, where he was born and raised, in his native South Korea, he sings the feeling that the place he stands “now” is where he stands is his hometown. The title “Uri” means “our” or “our,” and “Ariran” refers to a Korean folk song known to all Koreans. He also played Hangul rap on the title track “MOMENT”, but in the second half of “Uriariran”, he hummed “Ariran”, and this new album seems to rethink his “roots” in a different way from last year’s EP “CLASSIC”, making it a work that boasts his own identity, as if he were to straighten his spine.
The album also includes two popular remix songs that were talked about last year, such as “Trapped (Kan Sano Remix)” and “The Person I Don’t Like – ☆Taku Takahashi Remix.” This is a masterpiece that clearly reflects the fulfilling activities he has been doing since last year.
